Don’t you just hate it when people answer a question with a question?

A.    What are your past results as a student?

Are you motivated to improve your skills?

How willing are you to do whatever it takes?

Here’s Comes The Truth . . . . . . .

• You can become a better player without this class.

If you play at clubs and tournament, I’m willing to bet that you have already invested a fair amount of time ‘studying’.  And I am willing to assume that if you’re like most people and were studying on your own, there were frequent gaps in your study regimen.  That’s just human nature,  SCRABBLE 101 will require your commitment to a regimen for 5 weeks, 7 days a week, a minimum of 15 - 30 minutes every day

I am now willing to bet, that the commitment requirement, eliminated more than 50% of those reading this piece.

There are many other successful programs that modify behavior and teach things.  A key component in all of these programs and classes is the commitment from the participants and doing it long enough to alter habits and behaviors.  Scrabble 101 is built on the same premise.  I will require your commitment in writing before we begin.

• Will you become an ‘expert’ ?

I will not guarantee that you will become an expert.  I will guarantee that you will become a much more knowledgeable player and rise in the ranks.  I will also stick my neck out a bit and say that I believe that most of us have the abilities to become an ‘expert’ if we are willing to pay the price.  SCRABBLE 101 is about becoming a better player.

• What will I be learning?

We will touch on all the components of the game through a series of lessons and assignments that demand your full attention to their importance in the game.  My goal is to get you to see the game differently,  (You know how when you are an observer watching a game over some other player’s shoulder and you see the bingos that he/she can’t see?)  I want you to get to the point where you can see those plays from your seat.

• Will I be able to learn it all in 5 weeks ?

No.  Of course not.  You will be given tools of understanding; lessons that can be repeated time after time; lessons that can be easily altered to deal with other issues, a clear acknowledgment of your strengths and weaknesses; a personal study plan that will last way beyond 5 weeks.  (The highest ranking NASPA, WGPO, and WORDS WITH FRIENDS players all acknowledge that they never stop studying and reviewing.)   If there’s no improvement it’s because you chose not to follow the regimen.

• I want to do this.  How much?  When can I begin?
